End User
Apr 21st
OK, so get this. I do some part time work fixing computers for end users for a company that has squads of people. This is a retail setting so working with the end user and providing customer service is the name of the game. End users please do not take offence to this but use this as an education. Before you blow your mind and start blaming the retailer for your computer challenges you need to take some ownership for you own activities.
I completely understand that everyone has different levels of understanding when it comes to computers but if you do not know how to drive do you blame the dealership if you crash? NO, but they are still there to help you fix it.
A while back I had a customer come in and start screaming at me that touchpad on the laptop was bad and kept shutting off. After spending some time with his verbal abuse I told him to start up the laptop and start surfing the web and show me how he uses it. Keep in mind this guy was convinced that WE made it that way. I watched him use his laptop and sure enough he was able to replicate the issue. What is funny here is I watched him repeatedly bump into the button that turns it on and off.
I stop the customer and basically just give it back to him. “You know if you were watching what you were doing you would see that it is in fact YOU turning it on and off… There is nothing wrong with your laptop and coming in here blaming us because you’re not paying attention is un-acceptable!”
I do want to say thank you to those of you that are true customers but there is a fine line when using the term ‘the customer is always right.’ When did Americans lose their common sense? Come On People we can do better than that… be better than that!
iPad?

Although the iPad is cool I am just a little sick of hearing about it… this Video from MAD TV is pretty good if you’re sick of all the other crap.
Android 2.1 upgrade for Sprint’s HTC Hero?
Apr 19th
I know that there have been many posts and rumors surrounding when we will see this much anticipated upgrade the HTC Hero. If you are anything like me I know that you are waiting for this with impatient anticipation. Don’t get me wrong, I am very happy with my phone but I guess the thought of an upgrade that will make the phone run faster and smother is just something to look forward to.
The release dates have been getting pushed back for a while now with the most recent dates of April 9th and then April 26th to now sometime in May…
If you know anything new please feel free to share your thoughts.
T-Mobile & Sidekick Data Outage
Oct 19th
I am sure if you have a T-Mobile Sidekick then you know about the outage that Microsoft/Danger’s servers have caused. In the latest update, dated 10/10/09, it was mentioned that customers contacts are more than likely, not recoverable. You know where I am going with this.
I find it extremely surprising and frustrating that ANY company that deals with data can let something like this happen. Are you telling me that they had NO form of backup in place on these servers or was it someone’s incompetence that allowed this to happen? As a paying customer, I would like to think that if part of my service is the fact that my contacts are backed up on these servers then I would fully expect that the appropriate failsafes would be in place. Thanks again Microsoft!
Does everyone remember when the ZUNE crashed last year? For some BS reason it could not work the last day of the year. It had something to do with the extra day in the year giving us 366 days. And let’s not forget VISTA! So again, Microsoft lets us down. How is any of this acceptable?
This is not just a Microsoft issue as their partner Danger is just as much to blame as well as T-Mobile themselves for not having any form of quality control in place to prevent this from happening. Yeah, Yeah… make whatever excuse you want for them.
Update! 10/14/09
So as they continue to work on the server challenges they have become optimistic that they might be able to recover some of the lost data however considering we are in the 2nd week I do not see it happening.
