This is a remastered screenshot from the video game Super Metroid. Released in 1994 Super Metroid featured an open world where bounty hunter Samas Aran must defeat Mother Brain to keep the galaxy safe from improper use of Metroids. There are also space pirates there looking to use Metroids to gain power. I think that is right.
So we all know that the PS4 is on the way and sure we know about the new dual shock controller design. Sony has selected some impressive hardware to stuff in this latest PlayStation that any avid gamer is going to want.
Do you remember the Intellivision by Mattel? Next to Pong this was the first video game system in my house when I was growing up. You really cannot even compare these older systems to what we have today. These were the first to bring the arcade home. This was a time when the family and friends would gather to play these games for hours on end. Even these poor graphics would not stop me from spending afternoons from playing games like Burger Time or Pitfall.
If you are one of the lucky ones that remember this then you must know what PlayCable is? Yup! We had that too. What was almost light years before any cable internet service or any internet service for that matter, this add-on box would give you 50 games a month though your cable provider.
Awesome memories of a time when you could put fake wood grain on electronics because it was cool.
NVIDIA wants to tweak gaming performance through its GeForce Experience software. Nvidia has had the new software in testing for over a month now. If you have been curious what it’s all about, then there is some great news as that the company just recently opened the beta program to all of us.
Along with bringing faster and better-looking graphics to the PC gaming masses, the public version widens the optimizations to include Core 2 processors, 2,560 x 1,440 displays and games like Far Cry 3 and Mechwarrior Online.
It’s not yet clear when Nvidia will have the new software completed but with the advantages this could bring to gaming it’s going to me interesting to see what they have up their sleeves. If you are interested in downloading this beta CLICK HERE!

The evolution of competitive devices is starting to become apparent, so much so the future of the PlayStation Vita is concerning, with the failure of this handheld being blamed on iPad and Android apps among others. There’s no denying the PS Vita is a cool gaming device, but other avenues have also been producing some great approachable applications on other platforms, giving us cause to question how Sony’s handheld will fair as technology increases throughout the gaming world.
We are under the impression that the PS Vita is not fairing too well in Japan, in fact, it seems to be dying in this territory, and this could have a knock on effect in other countries. Highlighting the Vita’s poor reception Forbes report on how the PSP has sold 14 million units in Japan with 17m in the US, but the performance of the Vita has been questioned in Japan because the unit volume was a shocking 4,021 by the week ending on the 11th of November. The PSP sold 12,000 units during the same week, so the Vita has failed to dislodge the old one, which wasn’t forecasted.

Forty years. That’s a long time in the tech industry and Atari knows it. Today it celebrates four decades in the game, and quite the tale it is. Highs, lows and everything in between, Atari has been there. As one of the most influential brands both in gaming and technology, it only seems right to take a look over the company’s history and chart some of the more significant twists in its less than straightforward journey. After the break we speak to the man that started it all and the one currently at the helm, as well as some of the many people whose lives were irreversibly changed by its influence.
