Mini MAC on Raspberry Pi

Source: Engadget

Apple may please fans of diminutive hardware with the Mac Mini, but John Leake of the RetroMacCast has created something that can satisfy fans of miniature and classic hardware: a tiny replica of the original Macintosh. The aptly-dubbed Mini Mac sits at 1/3 the size of the original, is crafted from a PVC board and crams a Raspberry Pi inside. In order for the board to fit however, Leake had to solder wires instead of relying on connectors, trim the SD card and snip part of the USB cable. When it comes to visuals, the box packs a 3.5-inch display, which receives 512 x 384 output from the Pi. As for connectivity, the package supports a wireless keyboards and mice via Bluetooth, plus it exposes two USB ports, an HDMI slot and an ethernet jack. Not only does this slice of the 1980s have the looks to match the era, but it also features some of the old-fashioned functionality. Sure, floppies won’t fit into its faux drive slot, but it runs System 6 via the open source Mini vMac emulator. Head past the break to catch a video of the model or visit the source for build shots.

Real or fake? Honestly this looks far too fake to even comment on the topic. As someone who “wants to believe” it would be nice to see some real evidence.

Stephanie Leonidas is Irisa (Defiance)

Wikipedia:

One of four children born in London, England, to a Greek Cypriot father and a British mother, Leonidas is not the only thespian in the family — her brother Dimitri Leonidas and sister Georgina Leonidas are also actors, whilst her other sister Helena is a teacher.

Leonidas started acting in community theatre when she was eight; at nine she acquired an agent and began to work in television.

Notable credits have included the television drama Daddy’s Girl, the soap opera Night and Day and a 2004 episode of Doc Martin in which she plays Melanie, a local Portwenn 15-year-old girl who develops an unhealthy fascination with the surgeon. More recently she has starred in Neil Gaiman and Dave Mckean’s MirrorMask in the dual roles of Helena and the Dark Princess, and a BBC adaptation of Dracula, as well as Crusade in Jeans. Her theatrical roles have included Adela in a production of Lorca’s The House of Bernarda Alba at Coventry’s Belgrade Theatre, and Dani in The Sugar Syndrome, staged at the Royal Court Theatre Upstairs, London, in 2003. In this latter production, reviewer Lizzie Loveridge said she gave a performance “way beyond her years”.

More recently, Leonidas has once again teamed up with Dave Mckean to work on a new film entitled Luna, which was expected to be released sometime in 2013. She has also recently starred in the BBC made for TV film Atlantis, which aired on BBC one and BBC one HD on 8 May 2011. In 2011 she was in a play for the Transatlantyk Festival called “Influence” and the play was written by Shem Bitterman; Leonidas was Sally, Branden’s girlfriend.

The Samsung Galaxy S2 Phantom Button Press!

After several months with working with Sprint on line and the Sprint Store I continue to have the same problem with my S2. This was the letter to Sprint looking for a solution.

I am having the same problem as before. The phantom button press. When in a LOW 3G location the lower buttons act like they are being pressed. This is a Samsung S2. I have been into the Sprint Store several times (look at my account) and this past weekend they replaced my phone with another S2. I am having the same problem. If the S2 has a known issue why does Sprint not force Samsung to take care of this or offer a ???like kind or better??? replacement.
I am asking you to reset my eligibility so that I can start fresh with a new contract and a new phone. I am not paying any upgrade fee. I am aware of where I am in my contract however Sprint has not delivered the service or the hardware that I have paid for. If we cannot come to an agreement I will move my # and service to another carrier.
Sprint should have an obligation to their customers to provide reliable service including reliable hardware. If Samsung is not a manufacturer partner that will stand behind their products then Sprint and other carriers should not offer them.

Sprint responds with…

Your issue has been escalated to me to ensure proper resolution.
I do apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. However, Sprint only provides service to your device. The performance of your device is not a Sprint issue. I am not aware of this issue with all Galaxy S2 devices. If the replacement device is having the same issue you can always take it back to the store and get another replacement for the same device or a device of equal value.  You also have the option of going through the manufacturer “Samsung” to get a replacement.

After some additional back and forth with Sprint I am still no closer to a resolution that doesn’t cost me more money. Sprint’s last response was…

I really do apologize, at this time you are not eligible for an early upgrade.

The issue can not be a sprint issue if some phones work and some don’t. If the service was the issue, it doesn’t matter which phone you have it will not work. You can check out our refurbish inventory at www.sprint.com/preowned.

This is a bit of a slap in the face. You tell me that this is not a known issue… here are some links from people having the same issue.
